Mr McGRATH asked the Minister of External Affairs, upon notice -

1.   Is it correct that the Government paid £1,000 to the credit of Mr. Deakin before his departure for San Francisco, to meet his expenses 1

2.   Is this money absolutely at the disposal of Mr. Deakin?

3.   Is it correct that 30 dollars per day- approximately £43 10s. per week - were drawn by Mr. Deakin as expenses from the funds of the Australian Commission at San Francisco.

4.   Is this £43 10s. per week additional to the £1,009 above referred to?

5.   Was the Australian Commissioner at San Francisco aware, when paying him £43 10.°. per week, that £1,000 had been paid into Mr. Deakin's credit in Melbourne to cover his expenses ?
