Mr BURCHELL (FREMANTLE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister of Home Affairs, upon notice -

1.   Whether it is a fact that in acquiring land at Cockburn Sound, Western Australia, the Commonwealth is paying three times the estimated value of the same land eighteen months ago; if so, what is the reason for the increased prices asked, and who was responsible for failing to acquire this land earlier?

2.   Will the Minister have a return prepared showing the most recent values placed on these pieces of land by the owners for taxation purposes under State or Federal Land Tax Acts: also, will he give the proposed prices to be paid for such properties?
