Mr ARCHIBALD - The answers to the honorable member's questions are -

1.   The central electoral administration is in constant touch with the Divisional Returning Officers, through the Commonwealth Electoral Officers, for the several States in regard to enrolment and the adjustment of the rolls, and has repeatedly urged upon all concerned the necessity of securing the maximum degree of activity practicable.

2.   Whilst a house-to-house canvass has not been decided upon, the services of the postal and police authorities are being utilized, and the compulsory provisions of the law are being enforced to the fullest practicable extent.

3.   Yes. The enrolments and adjustments effected during the 'five months ended 24th April last number 260,623. The total enrolment on that date was 2,738,836.
