Sir JOHN FORREST (SWAN, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister of External Affairs, upon notice -

Can the following information be given with regard to the Northern Territory : -

(a)   Has the country been examined between Alroy Station and Alice Springs for the route of the Southern Railway, as recommended by the Administrator, Mr. Gilruth?

(b)   Progress in artesian boring.

(c)   Progress in dairying, and what has been done with the 500 cows purchased last year? (fi) How many settlers have settled in the Territory during the past six months?
