Mr POYNTON (GREY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) asked the PostmasterGeneral, upon notice -

1.   Whether it is true that the Commissioner of the Commonwealth Public Service has decided to dispense with the services of a number of old men in the Commonwealth service engaged in the Postmaster-General's Department in South Australia?

2.   Whether it is true that the Commissioner has decided to retain the services of the oldest and highest-paid member in the South Australian service?

3.   If this be true, does not the PostmasterGeneral think that more consideration should be given to other old men in the service who are equally competent to undertake the duties they have to perform ?

4.   Will the Postmaster-General request the Commissioner to extend the same consideration to all those who are competent to undertake the duties allotted to them ?
