Mr CROUCH - I wish to know from the Prime Minister if he is aware that Major-Genera^ Hutton's report on the Military Forces of the Commonwealth for the year 1903-4 has been sent to the Defence Department, but that before being received by the Department its contents were published in a newspaper. Will he cause inquiries to be made as to why the newspaper obtained a copy before the report was received by the Defence Department, and before it was" laid before Parliament ? When will the Prime- Minister have the report laid upon the table?

Mr.- WATSON.- I am not aware of the facts referred to by the honorable member, nor have I seen the report myself, but I shall cause inquiries to be made on the subject. I see no objection to laying the report upon the table.
