Mr FISHER (WIDE BAY, QUEENSLAND) (Minister for Trade and Customs) - In reply to the honorable member's question, I have to state -

1.   No. It has not been considered necessary to require such reports.

2.   See answer to (1).

3.   The matters of public interest connected wilh this Department are, specially, the fluctuations in revenue and trade. Particulars as to these are regularly supplied to the press, elaborate statistical information is also published annually, and is alwavs available for the information of members as soon as prepared. If an annual report were prepared it could contain little, if anything, of public interest, that is not otherwise published.

The expense of preparing such a report would be considerable, and altogether out of proportion to its utility.

If the right honorable member desires any special information regarding the Department, I shall be happy to have it prepared for him.
