Mr G B EDWARDS (SOUTH SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES) asked the Minister of Trade and Customs, upon notice -

1.   What was the total amount of the duties collected throughout the Commonwealth during the year 1903 upon ships' stores?

2.   In view of the irritation which, it is al leged, is felt by the mercantile community in consequence of the ^collection of duties upon ships' stores, and the comparative insignificance of the amounts collected, will the Government consider the advisability of not insisting upon the collection of such duties in future ?
