Mr DEAKIN (BALLAARAT, VICTORIA) (Attorney-General) - The Government are willing to discuss with the Premiers of the States the advisableness of undertaking the conversion of State loans to obtain more favorable terms for their renewal. It will need discussion. There are several important questions to be dealt with. Determination must be arrived at as to what consideration is to be accorded the Commonwealth for accepting the responsibility, the conditions as to future borrowing, and .the method of giving effect to the proposals. The Prime Minister is obtaining information on the latter subject from some of the leading financiers in London.
