Mr JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - I wish to say in reply to the Attorney-General that he himself has told us that this secretary to the Executive Council will be directly under the control of the Government, and that the Governor-General will neither appoint him nor have anything to do with his appointment, nor have any responsibility whatever with regard to him - that it will be an ordinary executive appointment. As such it should be left over for consideration on the Estimates.

Mr Deakin - It will be dealt with on the Estimates.
