Mr PAGE -Will the Acting Minister for Defence cause inquiries to be made into the purchase of tick-infested horses in Queensland for the use of the contingent despatched to South Africa before the last one? I desire to know the price per head paid for the horses, and if it is true that, on being found to be tick-infested, the horses were sold by the military authorities for 25s. per head, and repurchased for £14 or £15 per head by the same officer who sold them.
