13 ANL Legislation Repeal Bill 2019

The order of the day having been read for the second reading—

Mr Littleproud (Minister for Water Resources, Drought, Rural Finance, Natural Disaster and Emergency Management) presented an explanatory memorandum to the bill.

Mr Littleproud moved—That the bill be now read a second time.

Ms C. F. King moved, as an amendment—That all words after “That” be omitted with a view to substituting the following words:

“whilst not declining to give the bill a second reading, the House:

(1)    notes this Government’s record of undermining the Australian shipping industry; and

(2)    reaffirms that Australia’s economic, environmental and national security interests are best served by a viable and competitive shipping industry”.

Debate ensued.

Question—That the amendment be agreed to—put.

The House divided (the Speaker, Mr A. D. H. Smith, in the Chair)—
