 20 SUPERANNUATION SAFETY AMENDMENT BILL 2003

The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the question—That the Bill be now read a second time—

Debate resumed by Mr Cox who moved, as an amendment—That all words after "That" be omitted with a view to substituting the following words: "while not declining to give the Bill a second reading, the House believes that this Bill should also provide full compensation for loss of superannuation where losses have occurred as a result of:

 theft and fraud;

 superannuation guarantee contributions outstanding on the failure of a business; and

 the gross negligence of the trustee or trustees of a fund and the losses are not recoverable from the defaulting trustee or trustees".

Amendment negatived.
