Member ordered to withdraw

At 3.10 p.m. the Member for Burke (Mr O'Keefe) was ordered, under standing order 304A, to withdraw from the House for one hour for continuing to interject after a warning had been given from the Chair. Mr O'Keefe continuing to interject—

Member named

The Speaker named the Member for Burke (Mr O'Keefe) for defying the Chair.

Mr Reith (Leader of the House) moved—That the Member for Burke be suspended from the service of the House.

Mr Adams having addressed the Chair, the naming of Mr O'Keefe was not proceeded with.

The Speaker required the Member for Burke (Mr O'Keefe), under standing order 304A, to withdraw from the House for one hour for defying the earlier direction from the Chair, and he accordingly withdrew.
