MINISTRY AND MINISTERIAL ARRANGEMENTS AND APPOINTMENT OF GOVERNMENT WHIPS—PAPER

Mr Howard (Prime Minister) informed the House of the resignation of Mr Prosser as Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs.

Mr Howard also informed the House that Mr Reith had been appointed Minister for Workplace Relations and Small Business, Senator Ellison had been appointed Minister for Customs and Consumer Affairs and Minister Assisting the Attorney-General, Dr Kemp (Minister for Schools, Vocational Education and Training) had been appointed Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service, Mr Cadman had been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Small Business, Ms Worth had been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Family Services and Mr McGauran (Minister for Science and Technology) would represent the Minister for Customs and Consumer Affairs in the House.

Mr Howard further informed the House that Mr J. N. Andrew had been appointed Chief Government Whip and Mr Slipper had been appointed Government Whip and that, during the absence abroad of Mr Downer (Minister for Foreign Affairs), Mr Fischer (Minister for Trade) would answer questions on his behalf.
