1095  Senator Bob Brown: To ask the Minister representing the Minister for Trade—

(1) Is the Minister aware of any products imported into Australia that have originated in full or in part from Israeli settlements in the occupied territories or in Israeli industrial zones in the occupied territories.

(2) (a) Is the government satisfied that all goods originating from Israel or the occupied territories are truthfully labelled with their place or places of origin; and (b) does the government require this differentiation on labels or import documentation; if not, why not.

(3) Is the Minister aware of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission or any other government agency taking action against companies that label goods ‘Made in Israel’ when they are actually made partly or in full in the occupied territories; if so, what was that action and was there any remedy.

(4) Is the Minister or Austrade officials, who cover Israel and Palestine, aware of any contracts and/or agreements between Australian and Israeli companies to conduct research or business in the occupied territories, including in Israeli industrial zones in the occupied territories; if so, can details be provided of these arrangements.

1096  Senator Bob Brown: To ask the Minister representing the Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth—Given that, in May 2010, Australia’s children’s commissioners and guardians resolved that all children should be protected from physical punishment and all governments should work to ensure the law is consistent with international human rights standards:

(1) What is the Commonwealth Government doing to ensure that no child is subject to corporal punishment in Australian non-state schools.

(2) Why is corporal punishment not mentioned as an example of a punitive approach in the ‘Common Terms and Definitions’ section of the National safe schools framework resource manual .

 1097  Senator Siewert: To ask the Minister representing the Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth—In regard to all non-government schools that have Indigenous students enrolled:

(1) Can a breakdown be provided of all specific Indigenous funding payments under all relevant legislation, excluding general recurrent payments, segmented by individual program on a per capita basis for the 2008 to 2011 funding years inclusive, including: (a) the percentage of Indigenous enrolments at each school; (b) the location of the school; and (c) a detailed breakdown of the calculation methodology of these payments.

(2) Can a breakdown of all payments made on behalf of Indigenous boarding students be provided, on a per capita basis (for eligible students), under the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Act 2000 or any other relevant legislation for all eligible non-government boarding schools for the 2008 to 2011 funding years inclusive, including: (a) the percentage of Indigenous enrolments at each school; (b) the location of the school; and (c) a detailed breakdown of the calculation methodology of these payments.

1099  Senator Siewert: To ask the Minister representing the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs—

(1) Can details be provided on how much the Blue and White ‘No Alcohol, No Pornography’ signs posted at prescribed area communities in the Northern Territory cost in relation to:

(a) production;

(b) transportation and installation; and

(c) maintenance.

(2) How many signs were installed in total.

(3) How were signs maintained and by whom.

(4) How many signs were vandalized, and how many of those vandalized signs were replaced.

(5) In regard to signs that were removed or repainted by the department: (a) how many signs were removed or repainted; and (b) what was the cost of removing or repainting these signs.

1100  Senator Bob Brown: To ask the Minister representing the Minister for Defence—

(1) Can a list be provided, by year, of the total amount of military spending expended exclusively in Afghanistan from 2001 to the present.

(2) What is the projected amount of military spending to be expended exclusively in Afghanistan over the next 4 years.

(3) How much did the Australian Defence Force (ADF) spend on Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) eligible aid in Afghanistan in the 2010-11 financial year.

(4) Can a breakdown of expenditure, by project, be provided for ADF delivered ODA eligible aid to Afghanistan in the 2010-11 financial year.

1102  Senator Rhiannon: To ask the Minister representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs—

(1) (a) How much money has AusAID spent on Agent Orange responses in Vietnam in the past 10 years, including land rehabilitation, education and services for Agent Orange affected people; and

(b) can a breakdown be provided of that amount showing partner, amount, sector and province.

(2) Has Agent Orange including land rehabilitation, education and services for Agent Orange affected people, ever featured in the AusAID health strategy, Asia regional strategy or Vietnam strategy over the past 10 years.
