6           President’s commission to administer oath or affirmation

The President announced that he had received from His Excellency the Governor-General a commission to administer to senators the oath or affirmation of allegiance.

The President tabled the commission as follows:

authorisation to administer the oath or

affirmation of allegiance to senators

I, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting under section 42 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia, authorise william edward slade brockman , President of the Senate, to administer the oath or affirmation of allegiance to those Senators who have not already made and subscribed that oath or affirmation since being chosen, elected or appointed, or since last being chosen, elected or appointed, as Senators.
