27    ANL Legislation Repeal Bill 2019

Order of the day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of the Assistant Minister for Forestry and Fisheries (Senator Duniam)—That this bill be now read a second time.

Debate resumed.

Senator Brown moved the following amendment:

At the end of the motion, add “but the Senate:

                         (a)       notes this Government’s record of undermining the Australian shipping industry; and

                         (b)       reaffirms that Australia’s economic, environmental and national security interests are best served by a viable and competitive Australian shipping industry”.

Debate ensued.

Question—That the amendment be agreed to—put and passed.

Main question, as amended, put and passed.

Bill read a second time.

No amendments to the bill were circulated and no senator required that it be considered in committee.

On the motion of the Assistant Minister for Finance, Charities and Electoral Matters (Senator Seselja) the bill was read a third time.
