TheMinister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator

Faulkner), at the request of the Minister for Small Business, Customs

and Construction (Senator Schacht) and pursuant to notices of motion not

objected to as formal motions, moved--That the following bills be

introduced:

A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to primary industries and

energy, to repeal certain Acts and for related purposes.

A Bill for an Act to make provision for the regulation of the use for

commercial purposes of the indicia and images associated with the

Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, and

for related purposes.

A Bill for an Act to amend the Australian Sports Drug Agency Act 1990,

and for related purposes.

A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to trade practices to

promote better business conduct, and for related purposes.

Question put and passed.

Senator Faulkner presented the bills and moved--That these bills may

proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now read a

first time.

Senator Faulkner moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

Explanatory memoranda: Senator Faulkner tabled explanatory memoranda [4]

relating to the bills.

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of 29 November 1994, the debate was

adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for

the first sitting day in 1996.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Faulkner moved--That the bills be

listed on the Notice Paper as separate orders of the day.
