PETITIONS

The following 5 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senators Baume and Faulkner, from 138 and 162 petitioners,

respectively, requesting that the Senate oppose legislation that would

jeopardise the freedoms and rights of schools and religious

institutions or force them to compromise their distinctive moral

values.

Senator Bell, from 93 petitioners requesting that the Senate endorse

the December 1995 deadline established by the London Dumping

Convention to end the dumping of jarosite at sea.

Senator Jacinta Collins, from 33 petitioners requesting that the

Senate disallow the Public Service Act regulation removing the right

of appeal against higher duties of 12 months or less duration.

Senator Reynolds, from 54 petitioners requesting that the Senate

oppose the passage of the Child Care Legislation Amendment Bill 1995.
