TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICE PROVIDERS CLASS LICENCE DIRECTION--MOTION FOR
DISALLOWANCE

Senator Bourne, pursuant to notice, moved--That Telecommunications

(Service Providers Class Licence) Direction No. 1 of 1995, made under

subsection 204(1) of the Telecommunications Act 1991, be disallowed.

Senator Alston moved the following amendment:

Omit all words after "That", substitute "the Senate calls on the

Government to immediately give a commitment that it will introduce an

open access regime for cable pay television from July 1997".

Debate ensued.
