indicated, were received:

Senator Jones, from 66 petitioners requesting that the Senate convey

to the French Parliament the Australian community's outrage at the

French Government's decision to resume nuclear testing in the South

Pacific.

Senator Jones, from 30 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to ensure that substantial overseas aid is provided for

training programs for clearing landmines, and urge the Government to

use international forums to promote the Inhumane Weapons Convention

and prohibit landmines.

Senator Jones, from 6 petitioners requesting that the Senate condemn

the French Government for its decision to resume nuclear testing at

Mururoa Atoll.

Senator Jones, from 1 451 petitioners requesting that the Senate

support a world-wide ban on the production, stockpiling and use of all

anti-personnel landmines.

Senator Jones, from 84 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to remove the 12-hour child care assistance restriction for

long day care based on parents' marital and employment status.

Senator Sandy Macdonald, from 204 petitioners requesting that the

Senate oppose legislation that would jeopardise the freedoms and

rights of schools and religious institutions or force them to

compromise their distinctive moral values.

Senator O'Chee, from 14 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to protect all Australia's remaining natural heritage forests

and implement sustainable plantation forestry practices.

Senator Jones, from 333 petitioners requesting that the Senate oppose

nuclear testing at Mururoa Atoll.
