EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION AND TRAINING REFERENCES COMMITTEE--PROPOSED
REFERENCE

The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Hill), pursuant to

notice, moved--That the following matter be referred to the Employment,

Education and Training References Committee for inquiry and report on or

before 23 November 1995:

Whether the sale of Bond University, as one of a very small number of

non-Government universities in Australia, to the University of

Queensland, a public institution, would be in the national interest

and, in particular, whether it would lead to a reduction in diversity

and choice in Australian tertiary education.

Debate ensued.

Declaration of interest: Senator Teague declared an interest in relation

to the matter under discussion.
