CRIMES AMENDMENT (CONTROLLED OPERATIONS) BILL 1995
PUBLIC ORDER (PROTECTION OF PERSONS AND PROPERTY) AMENDMENT BILL 1995

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting

for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 591, dated 23 August 1995--A Bill for an Act to amend the

Crimes Act 1914 to exempt from criminal liability certain law

enforcement officers who engage in unlawful conduct to obtain evidence

of offences relating to narcotic goods, and for related purposes.

Message no. 597, dated 23 August 1995--A Bill for an Act to provide

for the protective security of certain Federal Courts and Tribunals,

and for other purposes.

The Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator

Faulkner) moved--That these bills may proceed without formalities, may

be taken together and be now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Faulkner moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator Panizza the debate was adjourned till the next

day of sitting.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Faulkner moved--That the bills be
