FOREIGN AFFAIRS, DEFENCE AND TRADE REFERENCES COMMITTEE--REFERENCE

Senator Margetts, pursuant to notice of motion not objected to as a

formal motion, moved--That the following matter be referred to the

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee for inquiry and

report by 30 September 1995:

Whether Australia's stance in relation to nuclear testing and

non-proliferation has been and continues to be sufficiently clear and

adequate to ensure a complete ban on nuclear testing and a commitment

to nuclear non-proliferation, particularly in the light of the

decision by France to resume nuclear testing in the South Pacific and

the forthcoming Conference on Disarmament and the Comprehensive Test

Ban Treaty negotiations.

Question put and passed.
