Senator Margetts gave a notice of motion as follows: To move on the next

day of sitting--That the following matter be referred to the Foreign

Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee for inquiry and report

by 30 September 1995:

Whether Australia's stance in relation to nuclear testing and

non-proliferation has been and continues to be sufficiently clear and

adequate to ensure a complete ban on nuclear testing and a commitment

to nuclear non-proliferation, particularly in the light of the

decision by France to resume nuclear testing in the South Pacific and

the forthcoming Conference on Disarmament and the Comprehensive Test

Ban Treaty negotiations.
