COMMONWEALTH AUTHORITIES (AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY PAY-ROLL TAX)
BILL 1995

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting

for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 569, dated 22 June 1995--A Bill for an Act to amend the

Customs Tariff Act 1987, and for related purposes.

Message no. 567, dated 22 June 1995--A Bill for an Act relating to the

liability of certain Commonwealth authorities to pay Australian

Capital Territory pay-roll tax.

Senator Jones, at the request of the Minister for Industry, Science and

Technology (Senator Cook), moved--That these bills may proceed without

formalities, may be taken together and be now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Jones moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of 29 November 1994, the debate was

adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for

the first day of the spring sittings 1995.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Jones moved--That the bills be

listed on the Notice Paper as separate orders of the day.
