ENERGY-EFFICIENT SCORECARD--KU-RING-GAI COUNCIL

Senator Margetts amended her notice of motion by leave and, pursuant to

notice of motion not objected to as a formal motion, moved--That the

Senate--

(a) notes the report in the Sydney Morning Herald on 3 June 1995

concerning the innovative new policies of the Ku-Ring-Gai

Council in suburban Sydney in relation to an energy-efficient

scorecard for all housing approvals;

(b) congratulates the Ku-Ring-Gai Council for this exciting

initiative which is a model for all levels of government in

Australia in providing an integrated approach to energy

efficiency which is sufficiently flexible to allow substantial

consumer choice in housing design; and

(c) urges the Australian Government to consider funding the

development of this program by the Ku-Ring-Gai Council as a

model for all other local government authorities in Australia.
