QUESTIONS ON NOTICE--ANSWERS AND EXPLANATIONS

Senator Ian Macdonald, pursuant to the order of the Senate of 28

September 1988, asked the Minister representing the Minister for Housing

and Regional Development (Senator Cook) for an explanation of an answer

not being provided to question on notice no. 1843 (notice given 8

November 1994) relating to the cost of the Kelty report on regional

development.

An explanation was not provided.

Senator Ian Macdonald moved--That the Senate take note of the absence of

an explanation.

Debate ensued.

Question put and passed.

Senator Chapman, pursuant to the order of the Senate of 28 September

1988, asked the Minister representing the Minister for Veterans' Affairs

(Senator Faulkner) for an explanation of an answer not being provided to

question on notice no. 1984 (notice given 10 February 1995) relating to

the purchase of personal computers for the Repatriation General

Hospital, Daw Park, South Australia.

The Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator

Faulkner) indicated that an answer had been provided.

Senator Tambling, pursuant to the order of the Senate of 28 September

1988, asked the Minister representing the Minister for Employment,

Education and Training (Senator Schacht) for an explanation of an answer

not being provided to question on notice no. 1964 (notice given 6

February 1995) relating to the availability of electorate profile

information.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs (Senator Gareth Evans) provided an

explanation.

Senator Tambling moved--That the Senate take note of the explanation.

Senator Troeth, pursuant to the order of the Senate of 28 September

1988, asked the Minister for Family Services (Senator Crowley) for an

explanation of an answer not being provided to question on notice no.

2006 (notice given 28 February 1995) relating to mailing lists of child

care centres.

Senator Kemp, pursuant to the order of the Senate of 28 September 1988,

asked the Minister for Trade (Senator McMullan) for an explanation of an

answer not being provided in response to questions on notice nos 1997

and 1998 asked of the Minister representing the Minister for

AdministrativeServices (notice given 21 February 1995).

The Minister for Foreign Affairs (Senator Gareth Evans) indicated that

an explanation would be provided.

explanation.

Senator Newman, pursuant to the order of the Senate of 28 September

1988, asked the Minister for Defence (Senator Ray) for an explanation of

an answer not being provided in response to the following questions on

notice:

No. 1888--Minister representing the Minister for Defence Science and

Personnel (notice given 1 December 1994)

No. 1962--Minister for Defence (notice given 6 February 1995)

No. 1977--Minister for Defence (notice given 8 February 1995).

The Minister for Foreign Affairs (Senator Gareth Evans) provided an

explanation.

home equity conversion loans.
