COMMONWEALTH ELECTORAL AMENDMENT BILL 1995
FIRST CORPORATE LAW SIMPLIFICATION BILL 1995

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting

for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 490, dated 22 March 1995--A Bill for an Act to amend the

Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, and for related purposes.

Message no. 492, dated 22 March 1995--A Bill for an Act to amend the

Corporations Law, to repeal the Close Corporations legislation, and

for related purposes.

The Minister for Family Services (Senator Crowley) moved--That these

bills may proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now

read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Crowley moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

Explanatory memoranda: Senator Crowley tabled revised explanatory

memoranda [2] relating to the bills.

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of 29 November 1994, the debate was

adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for

the first day of the winter sittings 1995.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Crowley moved--That the bills be

listed on the Notice Paper as separate orders of the day.
