PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE COMPLAINTS LEVY BILL 1994

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting

for the concurrenceof the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 472, dated 27 February 1995--A Bill for an Act to amend

legislation administered by the Department of the Environment, Sport

and Territories, and for related purposes.

Message no. 475, dated 27 February 1995--A Bill for an Act to amend

the National Health Act 1953, the Health Insurance Act 1973 and the

Health Insurance Commission Act 1973, and for related purposes.

Message no. 476, dated 27 February 1995--A Bill for an Act to impose a

levy on health insurance businesses conducted by registered

organizations.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and

Energy (Senator Sherry) moved--That these bills may proceed without

formalities, may be taken together and be now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Sherry moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of 29 November 1994, the debate was

adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for

the first day of the winter sittings 1995.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Sherry moved--That the

Environment, Sport and Territories Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 2)

1994 be listed on the Notice Paper as a separate order of the day.
