PETITIONS

The following 3 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senator Bourne, from 45 petitioners requesting that the Senate oppose

attempts by the Government to raise the pension age for women from 60

to 65 years.

Senator Bourne, from 350 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to support a proposal to retain census forms for release for

specific research purposes in 70 or 100 years' time.

Senator Woodley, from 180 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to provide financial aid for clearing mines from countries such

as Cambodia.

The following petition, not in conformity with the standing orders, was

presented by Senator Lees, by leave, and received:

From 1 110 petitioners requesting that woodchip exports be phased out,

a long-term export licence to Harris Daishowa not be renewed,

sensitive environmental areas be protected and ecologically sound and

sustainable forestry practices be promoted.
