A message from the House of Representatives was reported transmitting

for the concurrence of the Senate the following bill:

Message no. 455, dated 7 February 1995--A Bill for an Act to deal with

transitional and consequential matters arising from the repeal of the

Audit Act 1901 and the enactment of the Auditor-General Act 1995, the

Financial Management and Accountability Act 1995 and the Commonwealth

Authorities and Companies Act 1995, and for related purposes.

The Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator

Faulkner) moved--That this bill may proceed without formalities and be

now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bill read a first time.

Senator Faulkner moved--That this bill be now read a second time.

Explanatory memorandum: Senator Faulkner tabled a revised explanatory

memorandum relating to the bill.

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of 29 November 1994, the debate was

adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for

the first day of the winter sittings 1995.
