PROCEDURE--STANDING COMMITTEE--SECOND REPORT OF 1994--CONSIDERATION

Order of the day read for the consideration of the Procedure Committee's

second report of 1994.

The Minister for Family Services (Senator Crowley) moved--

(1) That, in accordance with the recommendation contained in the

Procedure Committee's second report of 1994, the sessional order

of 2 February 1994 relating to the times of meeting and routine

of business be amended by adding after paragraph (8) the

following paragraph:

"(9) Where a motion is moved by leave in relation to a document

presented to the Senate, including a document presented to

the President when the Senate is not sitting, a senator

speaking to such a motion shall not speak for more than 10

minutes, and debate on the motion shall not exceed 30

minutes; where two or more such motions are moved in

succession, debate on all motions shall not exceed 60

minutes.".

(2) That this change to the sessional order have effect on and from

27 February 1995.

continuing effect.
