PETITIONS

The following 6 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senator Bell, from 81 petitioners requesting that the Senate endorse

the December 1995 deadline established by the London Dumping

Convention to end the dumping of jarosite at sea.

Senator Coulter, from 3 551 petitioners requesting that the Senate

take action to protect old-growth and wilderness forests by

implementing a comprehensive plantation strategy.

Senator Newman, from 88 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to provide funding for the transmitters necessary to ensure

that all Tasmanians have access to the ABC and SBS.

Senator Woodley, from 17 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to provide financial aid for clearing mines from countries such

as Cambodia.

Senator Bourne, from 200 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to support a proposal to retain census forms for release for

specific research purposes in 70 or 100 years' time.

Senator Newman, from 92 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to support legislation to introduce voluntary unionism into

Australia.
