HUMAN RIGHTS (SEXUAL CONDUCT) BILL 1994

Order of the day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of the

Minister for Family Services (Senator Crowley)--That this bill be now

read a second time.

Debate resumed.

Senator Vanstone moved the following amendment:

Omit all words after "That", substitute "the bill be withdrawn and

redrafted to make it clear that it does not affect the operation of a

law of the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory relating to:

(a) incest; or

(b) pornographic matter involving children; or

(c) medical practice, including termination of pregnancy; or

(d) prostitution".

Debate ensued.

Debate was interrupted while Senator Cooney was speaking.

On the motion of the Minister for Small Business, Customs and

Construction (Senator Schacht) resumption of the debate was made an

order of the day for a later hour.
