DEATH OF FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE THE HONOURABLE SIR MAGNUS
CAMERON CORMACK KBE--STATEMENT BY DEPUTY PRESIDENT

The Deputy President (Senator Crichton-Browne) informed the Senate that,

before his death, Sir Magnus Cormack strongly expressed the wish that

the usual condolence motion and subsequent speeches not take place in

the Senate. The Deputy President indicated that, in accordance with the

wishes of Senators, this wish would be respected. The Deputy President

then asked honourable Senators to stand in silence to acknowledge the

passing of Sir Magnus Cormack and to remember the great contribution

which he made to the Senate.

All Senators present stood in silence.
