RACIAL HATRED BILL 1994

A message from the House of Representatives was reported transmitting

for the concurrence of the Senate the following bill:

Message no. 399, dated 17 November 1994--A Bill for an Act to prohibit

certain conduct involving the hatred of other people on the ground of

race, colour or national or ethnic origin, and for related purposes.

The Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator

Faulkner) moved--That this bill may proceed without formalities and be

now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bill read a first time.

Senator Faulkner moved--That this bill be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator Panizza the debate was adjourned till the next

day of sitting.
