PETITIONS

The following 8 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senators Kernot and Tierney, from 964 and 840 petitioners,

respectively, requesting that the Senate take action to reform the

Family Law Act and the Child Support Scheme.

Senator Baume, from 877 petitioners requesting that the Senate

legislate to ban the importation and use of the drug RU486 in

Australia.

Senator Bell, from 50 petitioners requesting that the Senate urge the

Government to ban all uses of cyclodiene termiticides and implement

the recommendations of the Senate Select Committee on Agricultural and

Veterinary Chemicals.

Senator Ellison, from 24 petitioners requesting that the Senate oppose

the Plant Breeder's Rights Bill 1994.

Senator Foreman, from 29 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to declare Anzac Day as Australia's National Day of

Commemoration and that the holiday in commemoration be held on 25

April each year.

Senator O'Chee, from 345 petitioners requesting that the UN Convention

on Desertification not be signed without first receiving the scrutiny

and approval of the Senate.

Senator Reid, from 199 petitioners requesting that the Senate amend

the Childcare Rebate Act and the Social Security (Home Child Care and

Partner Allowances) Legislation Amendment Act to ensure that all

parents with dependent children are treated equally with maximum

freedom of choice.
