PIPELINE LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL 1994
WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION (PREVENTION OF PROLIFERATION) BILL 1994

The Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator

Faulkner), at the request of the Minister for Defence (Senator Ray) and

pursuant to notices of motion not objected to as formal motions,

moved--That the following bills be introduced:

A Bill for an Act to amend the Moomba-Sydney Pipeline System Sale Act

1994 and the Pipeline Authority Act 1973.

A Bill for an Act to prohibit the supply or export of goods that will

or may be used in, and the provision of services that will or may

assist, the development, production, acquisition or stockpiling of

weapons capable of causing mass destruction or missiles capable of

delivering such weapons.

Question put and passed.

Senator Faulkner presented the bills and moved--That these bills may

proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now read a

first time.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Faulkner moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

Explanatory memoranda: Senator Faulkner tabled explanatory memoranda [2]

relating to the bills.

On the motion of Senator Reid the debate was adjourned till the next day

of sitting.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Faulkner moved--That the bills be

listed on the Notice Paper as separate orders of the day.
