CRIMES AND OTHER LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL 1994

Explanatory memorandum: The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for

Primary Industries and Energy (Senator Sherry) tabled a supplementary

explanatory memorandum relating to the Government amendments to be moved

to the bill.

On the motion of Senator Sherry the following amendments, taken together

by leave, were agreed to:

Clause 6, page 3, proposed subsection 24(1), line 14, omit "an officer",

substitute "a senior officer".

Clause 6, page 3, proposed subsection 24(3), after definition of

"relevant warrant", insert the following definitions:

""Senior Executive Service office' has the same meaning as in the Public

Service Act 1922;

"senior officer of the Organization' means an officer of the

Organization who holds or performs the duties of an office that is:

(a) equivalent to a Senior Executive Service office; or

(b) designated as an office of Manager (Senior Officer Grade A) by

the Director-General under section 85.".

Bill, as amended, debated and agreed to.

Bill to be reported with amendments.

The Acting Deputy President (Senator McKiernan) resumed the Chair and

the Temporary Chairman of Committees (Senator Colston) reported

accordingly.

On the motion of Senator Sherry the report from the committee was

adopted and the bill read a third time.
