DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The Acting Deputy President (Senator Childs) informed the Senate that

Senator Ian Macdonald had proposed that the following matter of public

importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion:

The subservience of the Keating Labor Government to the unelected

party bosses of the ALP, which compels it to govern on behalf of the

factions in the labor movement to the detriment of the nation as a

whole.

The proposal was supported by 4 Senators.

Discussion ensued.
