PETITIONS

The following 8 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senator Abetz, from 107 petitioners requesting that the Senate support

the rights of Tasmania to determine its own social laws and oppose any

legislation seeking to override Tasmania's laws.

Senator Bell, from 95 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to phase out aerial spraying in accordance with the

recommendations of the Senate Select Committee on Agricultural and

Veterinary Chemicals.

Senator Kernot, from 194 petitioners requesting that the Senate oppose

attempts by the Government to raise the pension age for women from 60

to 65 years.

Senator Newman, from 53 petitioners requesting that the Senate review

the guidelines for young homeless rate benefits and show a greater

commitment to programs which prevent family breakdown.

Senator Spindler, from 2 141 petitioners requesting that the Senate

take action to reform the Family Law Act and the Child Support Scheme.

Senator Bell, from 141 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to ensure that the National Registration Authority gives

priority to reviewing the use of atrazine and similar chemicals, in

particular in their application in high rainfall and high slope areas.

Senator Ellison, from 529 petitioners requesting that the Senate

oppose the Plant Breeder's Rights Bill 1994.

Senator Newman, from 976 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to provide funding for the transmitters necessary to ensure

that all Tasmanians have access to the ABC and SBS.
