PETITIONS

The following 6 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senator Bell, from 20 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to apply conditions retrospectively to woodchip licences to

meet Commonwealth obligations and exclude old-growth forests and

wilderness areas.

Senator Coulter, from 100 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to protect old-growth and wilderness forests by implementing a

comprehensive plantation strategy.

Senator Sandy Macdonald, from 10 petitioners requesting that the

Senate take action to facilitate the placement of cellular telephone

transmitters in the Eden-Monaro electorate.

Senator Reid, from 591 petitioners requesting that the Senate amend

the Childcare Rebate Act and the Social Security (Home Child Care and

Partner Allowances) Legislation Amendment Act to ensure that all

parents with dependent children are treated equally with maximum

freedom of choice.

Senator Abetz, from 3 621 petitioners requesting that the Senate

support the rights of Tasmania to determine its own social laws and

oppose any legislation seeking to override Tasmania's laws.

Senator Campbell, from 900 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to ensure that Western Australia receives its fair share of

funding for existing and proposed national highways.
