DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The Deputy President (Senator Crichton-Browne) informed the Senate that

Senator Spindler had proposed that the following matter of public

importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion:

The need for the Government to take urgent action to improve the

treatment of children in Australia.

The proposal was supported by 4 Senators and the matter was discussed.
