PETITIONS

The following 7 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senators Chapman, Reid and Tierney, from 180, 190 and 140 petitioners,

respectively, requesting that the Senate amend the Childcare Rebate

Act and the Social Security (Home Child Care and Partner Allowances)

Legislation Amendment Act to ensure that all parents with dependent

children are treated equally with maximum freedom of choice.

Senators Ellison and Knowles, from 15 and 18 petitioners,

respectively, requesting that the Senate take action to increase

funding for breast cancer research and consider further initiatives

through the tax system to encourage donations for breast cancer

research.

Senator Bell, from 45 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to phase out aerial spraying in accordance with the

recommendations of the Senate Select Committee on Agricultural and

Veterinary Chemicals.

Senator Coulter, from 77 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to protect old-growth and wilderness forests by implementing a

comprehensive plantation strategy.
