DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The Deputy President (Senator Crichton-Browne) informed the Senate that

Senator Alston had proposed that the following matter of public

importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion:

The Government's confusing policy approach to the Australian

Broadcasting Corporation, leading to a serious loss of morale and lack

of sense of direction.

The proposal was supported by 4 Senators and the matter was discussed.
