PETITIONS

The following 11 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators

indicated, were received:

Senators MacGibbon and Reid, from 190 and 160 petitioners,

respectively, requesting that the Senate amend the Childcare Rebate

Act and the Social Security (Home Child Care and Partner Allowances)

Legislation Amendment Act to ensure that all parents with dependent

children are treated equally with maximum freedom of choice.

Senator Bell, from 77 petitioners requesting that the Senate endorse

the December 1995 deadline established by the London Dumping

Convention to end the dumping of jarosite at sea.

Senator Brownhill, from 42 petitioners opposing any changes to the

Australian flag, supporting the constitutional monarchy and opposing

any moves to turn Australia into a republic.

Senator Chamarette, from 14 petitioners requesting that the Senate

take action to end the policy of detaining asylum seekers and to

release those asylum seekers still being held in Department of

Immigration Processing Centres.

Senator Chamarette, from 59 petitioners requesting that the Senate

take action to withdraw from any treaty or agreement with Indonesia

which will lead to the export of uranium and to develop safe and

sustainable energy generation technologies.

Senator Chapman, from 1 509 petitioners requesting that the Senate

take action to reform the Family Law Act and the Child Support Scheme.

Senator Coulter, from 140 petitioners requesting that the Senate take

action to protect old-growth and wilderness forests by implementing a

comprehensive plantation strategy.

Senator Kemp, from 7 petitioners requesting that the Senate ensure

that the Australian national flag is not changed or replaced without

first being voted upon and approved by the people of Australia in a

national poll.

Senator Kemp, from 6 petitioners requesting that Australia remain a

constitutional monarchy with Her Majesty the Queen of Australia as

Head of State.

Senator Patterson, from 42 petitioners requesting that the Senate

repeal the Childcare Rebate Act.
