EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION AND TRAINING--STANDING COMMITTEE--REFERENCE

The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Hill), by leave,

moved--

(1) That the following matters be referred to the Standing Committee

on Employment, Education and Training for inquiry and report on

or before 28 June 1994:

In the context of the policy, purpose and provisions of the

Education Services for Overseas Students (Registration of

Providers and Financial Regulation) Act 1991, the nature,

implications and effects of the Education Services for Overseas

Students (Registration of Providers and Financial Regulation)

Regulations (Amendments) (being Statutory Rules 1994 Nos 146 and

154 tabled by Senator Bell on 2 June 1994).

(2) That for the purposes of the inquiry:

(a) the terms of reference be appropriately drawn to the

attention of interested persons;

(b) written submissions be sought and examined by the committee;

and

(c) oral evidence be heard, including oral evidence from the

authors of the most important submissions, at a public

hearing on 24 June 1994.
