VETERANS' AFFAIRS (1994-95 BUDGET MEASURES) LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting

for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 303, dated 9 June 1994--A Bill for an Act to make

provision consequential on the establishment of the Australian Capital

Territory Government Service, and for related purposes.

Message no. 304, dated 9 June 1994--A Bill for an Act to amend the law

relating to superannuation.

Message no. 305, dated 9 June 1994--A Bill for an Act to amend the

Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986, and for related purposes.

The Minister for Family Services (Senator Crowley) moved--That these

bills may proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now

read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Crowley moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator Reid the debate was adjourned till the next day

of sitting.

Consideration of legislation: Senator Crowley moved--That the bills be

listed on the Notice Paper as separate orders of the day.

Question put and passed.

Reference to committee: Pursuant to the order of the Senate of 8 June

1994, the Veterans' Affairs (1994-95 Budget Measures) Legislation

Amendment Bill 1994 stands referred to the Standing Committee on

Community Affairs for consideration and report by 20 June 1994.
